“Small But Mighty” is of Alexander’s own brown and tan Chihuahua, Sadie. Sadie, whose markings made it look like she was wearing a mask, inspired most of Alexander’s first paintings and continues to influence her art today.

Angela Alexander is an Asheville-based artist specializing in pet portraits, and dogs specifically. Over the years her style has evolved from comedic pop-art caricatures, to the more refined and abstract technique she uses in her art today. The bold colors that characterize her work represent her subject’s energy and personality.
